Safflower Yellow is extracted from Carthamus Tinctorius L., of the Dendranthema family. The pigment mainly consists of carthamus.
Its pigment is easily dissolving in water but not in fat solvent. Its yellow solution adjusts steadily in PH 2---7, becoming slight red in alkaline. The pigment’s resistance to light、heat、microbes and salt is high.
Safflower Yellow is very hygroscopic in the air, and applicable to coloring drinks、ice-cream、food、medicine and cosmetics. The pigment has been formulated to a national standard (standard number GB5716-85).
